Google is Taking Down YouTube From Amazon Echo and Fire TV

Share

Amazon and Google, are two big tech companies who are making some great products and services for their customers. But looks like both the companies are up for a fight. Google said that they would pull down YouTube from Amazon devices as they are not selling Google hardware on their e-commerce website.

YouTube is the biggest video streaming network and not having youtube on its devices will definitely hurt Amazon as people all around the world watch content on youtube on a regular basis. Both the companies are putting their resources on the next big technology that is the use of AI and voice controls.

Amazon with it’s Amazon Alexa powered devices have a strong hold over Google’s Assistant enabled tech. But Amazon not selling Google products like Chromecast and Home clearly states that they want to eliminate competition from its Echo speakers and Fire TV.

Google said “Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make (its) Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of (our sister company) Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV.”

Amazon Devices will lose access to youtube starting 1st January 2018, so if you were looking forward to buying an Amazon device and uses Youtube a lot, then we would suggest you wait, let’s see how it ends. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
