Google has announced that it is merging its Android Pay and Google Wallet into one payments platform called Google Pay. This new unified platform will be available Online, physical stores via NFC technology and other Google products like the newly launched Google Tez service.
“With Google Pay, it’ll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind,” said Pali Bhat, VP of Product Management, Payments at Google. Google Pay is already available on Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, Instacart, and other apps and websites you love.
This service will come to Google Tez but we don’t know if Google will re-brand it to Google Pay. Google has now unified the payment platform into one to compete with the other payment platforms like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. Samsung pay is very popular payment platform in India.
It will be interesting to see how Google will integrate Google Pay with all of its other services and how it will bring this in India where its UPI based Tezz app is already performing well. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for latest tech news, daily deals, and reviews.
