We are less than 15 days away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, and leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 have already started. According to a new report, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be the first Samsung Smartphone to sport an under-display fingerprint scanner.
There were speculations of an under-display fingerprint scanner around the Note 8 time also. But that was limited only to the concept renders. This time Samsung is looking forward to finally bring the under-display fingerprint scanner to its Note lineup. According to the report, Samsung will not rely on Synaptics for the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung will be coming up with its own under-display fingerprint scanner technology. We have already seen a commercial smartphone with under-display fingerprint scanner called the Vivo X20 Plus. The clear ID found on the smartphone works only on an OLED panel. Samsung also uses an OLED panel for its flagships.
It will be interesting to see how fast will be the Samsung’s technology and how accurate. Also, do note the leaked design might only be for reference and will not be the actual design of the Galaxy Note 9. We don’t think there will be a big change in terms of the design, bezels will be thinner and will have an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Just like every year, The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be launched in August 2018 just before the IFA 2018. We will know more about the device after the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus later this month. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
