Xiaomi is all set to launch its first flagship smartphone for the year 2018 called the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S. Xiaomi has already confirmed that they will launch the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S with Snapdragon 845 SoC on 27th March in China. Another Xiaomi which will come with the Snapdragon 845 processor is the Mi 7.
According to the latest GeekBench listing, Xiaomi is also ready for its Mi 7 launch. The smartphone spotted on the benchmarking website is codenamed Xiaomi Dipper. According to the listing, the smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
It will run on MIUI 9 interface on top of the Android Oreo. Looking at these specifications, we can easily assume that this is the upcoming Mi 7 smartphone. Also, Xiaomi has previously used the star constellation name as the codename of flagship Mi 5 series of smartphones.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 aka dipper scored a single core score of 2449 on GeekBench and a multi-core score of 8309. In terms score it falls short of some other flagships like iPhone X, iPhone 8, Galaxy S9, and Xperia XZ2. But as you know benchmarks don’t necessarily mean better performance and the price difference between the Xiaomi Mi 7 and these flagships is also to be considered.
Coming to Mi MIX 2S, it will sport a Full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display and will house a 3,400 mAh battery. It will also come with some AI camera features which will enable facial recognition. Recently Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India which will also receive facial recognition feature as an update in the future.
The smartphone will come with a Sony IMX363 sensor and will have features like object tracking, automatic HDR, chroma flash etc. MIX 2S will come with dual-SIM support and will have an IR blaster and a LED notification light. We will know more about the device – pricing, availability in a few weeks on March 27. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for latest tech updates.
